Financial Protection

We offer two different types of financial protection to our customers, ensuring that all monies paid to us are protected and that in the unlikely event of our insolvency you will either be able to continue with your holiday or receive a refund.

  • If you book a flight only or flight inclusive package from within the EEA, your booking will be covered by the ATOL scheme
  • If your holiday booking with us does not include any flights, or if you book from outside the EEA, your booking will be covered by International Passenger Protection

Details of the specific protection which applies to your booking will be clearly stated on your invoice.


ATOL (Air Travel Organisers License)

Many of the flights and flight-inclusive holidays on this website are financially protected by the ATOL scheme. But ATOL protection does not apply to all holiday and travel services listed on this website. Please ask us to confirm what protection may apply to your booking. If you do not receive an ATOL Certificate then the booking will not be ATOL protected. If you do receive an ATOL Certificate but all the parts of your trip are not listed on it, those parts will not be ATOL protected. IPP (International Passenger Protection)

In accordance with Passenger protection policy for insolvency cover in respect of the Package Travel & Linked Travel Regulations 2018 all passengers booking with Discover South America Ltd are fully protected for the initial deposit and subsequently the balance of all monies paid to us, including repatriation costs, arising from cancellation or curtailment of your travel arrangements due to the insolvency of Discover South America Ltd.

There is no requirement for Financial Protection of day trips, and none is provided.

Consumer aware: Your booking is insured by IPP Ltd and its panel of insurers. - This insurance is only valid for passengers who book and pay directly with/to Discover South America Ltd.  If you have booked and/ or paid direct to a Travel Agent for a holiday with Discover South America Ltd please request proof of how the booking is secured as this will not be covered by IPP Ltd in this instance.
