Day 1: Monday: Arrive Galapagos, Santa Cruz Island tour

You will be met upon arrival at the airport on Baltra Island, and have a boat transfer to Santa Cruz Island.  You will then head into the highlands of the Island to visit the Giant Tortoise Reserve, where you can see these amazing creatures in their natural habitat.  Next you will make a stop in the twin craters and have a packed lunch, before continuing to the Finch Bay Eco Lodge.

You will have some free time in the late afternoon to enjoy the lodge’s facilities including the pool, white coral beach and hammocks outside each room.  Dinner is included at the lodge and you may want an early night in preparation for tomorrow’s activities.

Day 2: Tuesday: North Seymour Island (Yacht Excursion)

After breakfast this morning you will have a yacht excursion to North Seymour Island.   A stroll on flat terrain allows the observation of Palo Santo trees and colonies of blue-footed boobies, swallow-tailed gulls and magnificent frigate birds.  Towards the other side of the island, the ocean crashes against the rocks and sea lions surf in the waves.

In the afternoon you will head to Las Bachas, on the north shore of Santa Cruz Island.  Las Bachas is a glorious white sand beach, with several brackish lagoons only a few steps away from the sea. These lagoons are the feeding grounds of various wading birds, from stilts to flamingos.  You can choose to snorkel, swim or just relax and stroll on the white sand beach.

Day 3: Tuesday: Plaza Island (Yacht Excursion)

This small island is full of fascinating wildlife, at sea side and along the cliffs:  sea lions, land iguanas, swallow-tailed gulls, Opuntia cacti and vegetation that changes colors according to the season.

Today you have another yacht excursion to the tiny Plaza Island.  Only 130 metres wide, and with the shape of a tilted table-top, Plaza Island is full of fascinating wildlife.  Arriving at the Island, the turquoise waters of the channel contrast brilliantly with the white sand and black lava of the shoreline.   On the Island you have the chance to see bright orange “Sally light foot” crabs, and yellow-gray Land Iguanas waiting patiently beneath the prickly-pear cacti for a pear to fall. Birds which inhabit the island include swallow-tailed gulls, Red-billed tropic birds, masked and blue-footed boobies.  Your guide will find the right spot to snorkel depending on the weather conditions, it might be off the shore of Plaza Island alongside a huge Sea Lion colony, or at Punta Carrion - a small bay where you can snorkel from the boat to see a variety of fish, rays and possibly white tip reef sharks.

Day 4: Darwin Research Centre and depart Galapagos

You will leave early in the morning to visit the Charles Darwin Research Station.  This is the headquarters of scientific investigation, conservation and the National Park administration, where you can see giant tortoises.  You then have an overland transfer to the airport in Baltra to fly back to the mainland.
